Matthew T. Mayr, MD, FACS

Dr. Mayr is from Annapolis, Maryland. He specializes in neurosurgical techniques and procedures of the spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerves, tumors and traumatic brain injury. He attended the Johns Hopkins University and graduated with honors. He then attended the Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut, after which he completed a residency in neurological surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. He then served three years in the United States Navy as a Neurosurgeon after 9/11. He earned two Navy Commendation Medals while he served. His interests include the latest operative and non-operative treatments of spinal disorders with emphasis on minimally invasive approaches. He has special interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery. Aside from being very successful, these methods reduce the risks of damage to structures near the spine, which tends to shorten patient recovery time and allow quicker return to daily routine. He also has an interest in artificial disk replacements and has been involved in clinical trials with cervical artificial disks. He takes care of patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. Dr. Mayr is honored to have been named as a Top Doc in Neurosurgery and/or Spine Surgery for the past seven years. He has been with NSA since 2007.
